Project Summary
This Indianapolis roof replacement project demonstrates how storm damage restoration can become an opportunity for meaningful home improvement.
When Robert reached out to Moss Roofing after his insurance company approved his claim for hail damage, we discovered the extent of the damage went beyond surface-level issues.
Our team transformed what began as an insurance claim into a complete roofing system upgrade that not only addressed the immediate storm damage but also enhanced the home’s long-term durability and aesthetic appeal.
The Challenge
Robert contacted Moss Roofing after discovering significant hail damage to his home. The storm had deteriorated his existing shingles and left his gutters dented and compromised.
The property featured multiple roof sections, including a complex flat roof area and a decorative cupola, making this a challenging restoration project. During the initial inspection, our team discovered extensive water damage to the roof decking and rotted wood that required immediate attention.

Our Solution
Our team worked directly with Robert and his insurance company to verify all claim details and document the full extent of the damage, including the water-damaged decking that was discovered during our inspection.
Robert decided to elevate his home’s appearance by upgrading to Malarkey’s designer Windsor shingles to restore his roof’s curb appeal and give his home additional protection against future storms.

Materials Used
This project utilized Malarkey’s SBS-Modified Class 4 Impact Resistant Windsor shingles in Storm Grey, which provide the highest level of hail protection available in residential roofing.
The installation included new Velux skylights to replace the existing units and a complete gutter replacement system. Our team installed new roof decking to replace water-damaged sections discovered during the tear-off process. The flat roof section received specialized restoration materials and protective coatings designed for low-slope applications.
High-quality underlayment and ice barrier protection were installed throughout the entire roof system to create multiple layers of defense against water infiltration.
Process
The project began with a thorough inspection and insurance coordination to document all storm damage.
Once approvals were finalized, our crews started by addressing the damaged roof decking and rotted wood components. The flat roof section received complete restoration with new materials and proper waterproofing.
The main roof section took 2.5 days to complete, while the flat roof section required an additional day. The extended timeline reflects the increased thickness and precise installation specifications required for designer shingle systems, as well as the careful attention needed for the multiple roof planes and the home’s distinctive cupola feature.

Results & Benefits
Robert’s home now features a premium roofing system that stands up to Indiana’s harsh storms while dramatically improving the property’s appearance.
The Class 4 Impact Resistant shingles provide maximum protection against future hail damage, and the Storm Grey color creates a striking visual impact that complements the home’s architectural details, including the distinctive cupola.
The new gutter system protects the home’s foundation and landscaping from water damage, while the Velux skylights allow natural light into the interior spaces. The restored flat roof section eliminates previous water infiltration concerns, giving Robert complete peace of mind.

Robert’s choice to upgrade his roofing system turned an insurance claim into an opportunity to invest in his home’s long-term protection and value. The designer profile creates a dimensional appearance that mimics high-end roofing materials while maintaining the reliability of asphalt shingle technology.
This project showcased our team’s ability to handle complex roofing challenges, including water damage repair, flat roof restoration, and work around architectural features like the home’s decorative cupola all in one cohesive project.
